<VV> LM wheel cylinders / brake hoses / brake lines

Having just done a '95 Buick AND a '96 Blazer, I can tell you that SOME of
the modern brake lines are 3/16. But, there seems to be TWO kinds of
flares.

For those of you where this is not news, just delete at this point.

There is the flare we are all used to on Vairs and there is the "bubble"
flare. Maybe there is more than two kinds for all I know. There is also an
issue with the FLAPS folks selling you mis-matched parts, both in terms of
flares and also (more subtle until you are working at home because the car
is needed in the morning and they are closed for the evening), connectors
for their pre-flared lines which don't match the threads on the two pieces
of line you just bought and are trying to connect.

My advice on this is - check EVERY darn (can I say darn?) connection at the
store before you walk to the checkout counter. If the pre-installed "male"
connector on the line will not mate with the other sex for more than 2
threads - you have a bad connection which will strip out, cause you extra
hours of work, and become frustrating. At this point, I need to say that
you all need to remember that this discussion is about CARS!

So, Andy... If this is your Ice Race car (and ONLY if) - poke a whole in the
floorboard (toe board?), run the line through the cabin and back out over on
the right side and down to the hose for the RF brake. You did not hear that
from me and anyone who does this for a daily driver OR a show car (won't
happen) is nuts! Oh, SOME (not me) have done the similar thing inside the
truck.

OK, there is also copper line that you could probably shape to fit as you
go - and use that to go over the top of the tank. But how would you hold it
in place once installed. Also, it is 3 or 4 times the price. Looks a bit
like a law suit getting ready to happen. Time will tell.

Later, JR
