<VV> 63' belt tosser! need help

In the ice race days (don't have a car for that just now and the last one 
got way too crispy), we would always break a belt on the way to the first 
race.  That was because we forgot to sand the pulleys.  Being that it was a 
Corvair, we could always find a belt tucked away in some nook or cranny of 
the car and whatever we found is what we put on.

The car would go through the rest of the season with no further BELT 
problems.  After a couple of years of this happening, we began to count on 
the "sacrificial" belt taking care of that job (sanding the pulleys) for us.

BTW, I prefer the Gates "top cog".  Others have their own preferences.  We 
did a survey on VV several years ago(somewhere in the archives) about 
favorite fan belts.  I think the gates came in 1st or 2nd - don't recall for 
sure.
