Hey guys,
One of the local club members was discussing a problem he has with his car, and I'm wondering if I could be onto something.
Car is a 65 Monza, 110, pg... daily driver (he's just as crazy as I am, only his is a LM convertible, not a EM sedan)... while passing a car the other day it developed a bad miss under load, but at idle and up to 40 MPH there isn't a miss... he lost his muffler, so he can't hear if a seat has dropped (I said "You should be able to FEEL that" but I don't think he heard me say it)... it has a Petronix 1 in it. (SIDE NOTE: Aren't the Petronix 1 supposed to have a FULL 12V going to it, and NOT hooked up at the coil??? His is attached at the coil... but he said "I've been running it like that for years.")...
I told him to get a timing light and check timing, and do a compression check, and that should lead you in the right direction...
Another friend told him it might be a bent pushrod... but wouldn't it miss all the time? not just under load? I would think the rocker would clack a lot...
Let me know what you guys would do, and I'll pass it along.
