<VV> Parking Brake Cable question - too short ?

My car is up on jacks when I couldn't get the old nuts off the old cable,
and I don't have a box of spare hardware (yet).

I'd be the wrong one to as "how much did it cost me" since it took me an
hour to walk to the hardware store and back.

If they gave (yes, "gave") me the spares, I'd put them in my jar for the
next time, like I did with the pack of 4 5/16" x 24 nuts that I bought on my
first one-hour jaunt to the store because Clark's did not ask which cable I
had, and gave me the wrong specs.

So now I have 4 5/16"x24's and 2 extra 5/16x18's (the right ones) for a
total of about $1, and two hours walking (or a $15 taxi ride)

I'd personally 'eat' the 12 cents, but that's just me.
