"The relationship (with Jim Hall) was cemented by Ralph Nader's crusade against the Chevrolet Corvair, a vehicle highlighted in his 1965 book, Unsafe at Any Speed, which alleged that the U.S. auto industry ignored basic safety features when designing automobiles. Jim Musser was then an engineer at GM R&D and says: "We had a vehicle dynamics program that came out of the litigation, trying to find out what it takes to elevate the limit of control. GM R&D was given responsibility for developing the case for the defense. "
