Sure, I need to pay more for insurance to cover my losses when someone else is at fault. Plus my rates will increase after that too.
Why let them drive in the first place?
Maybe the Mayans were right...

Yes. It is currently $500 a year.

I think liability insurance should be required, but so far the state has
llowed people to drive without it if they pay a large fee. Of course in
ther states that require insurance, people who can't pay just let it
apse, steal plates, etc. They still drive. License? We don't need no
icense!
Insurance companies that do business in VA do have to offer uninsured
otorist coverage to people buying auto insurance. This allows an
nsured to collect for their own car even if they do not have full
overage when damage is caused by an uninsured motorist and the
ninsured doesn't pay.

Are you saying that in the state of VA one can buy "Uninsured Motorist"
tags and drive around with no insurance?

Are you saying most people do not buy collision coverage on vehicles
worth $500 or less, or that collision insurance is required in your
state if the vehicle is valued over $500?
Here in VA only liability insurance is required, even if the vehicle was
worth millions. Or you could purchase uninsured motorist plates, but
only people with horrible driving records would find uninsured plates
cheaper than actually buying insurance....
