2011 CORSA Denver Convention
 
Have just arrived home from this years CORSA Convention (Wednesday August 10). 
 
Why did it take me so long? Well home is some 8,000 miles from Denver (Australia) and I returned home via Spokecan Washington, Portland Oregon and Los Angeles where a QANTAS B747-400 took me back to Australia in just under 15 hours (we had a head wind!).
 
I enjoyed the Convention very much and those who put the time into putting this convention together should be thanked a million times over. It was shame however that the map outside the registration area only provided for visitors from the USA. A map of world would have been more appropriate given the Conventions 'International' status.
 
My attendance at this years convention however ended on a disappointing note. I had paid for the Awards Banquet at the time of registering and was looking forward to 'planting' my small Australian flag on the dinner table. On approaching the entry door I was asked very firmly for a banquet ticket that I was never provided. My appeals that I had paid for the Banquet where responded to with the comment "not my problem, no ticket no entry".
 
I left feeling annoyed and promised myself that this would be the last CORSA convention that I would be attending. After looking over some of the Corvairs in the car park I walked to a Subway restaurant near the host hotel and enjoyed some food with my Australia flag firmly rolled up.
 
I appreciate very much that those running this event do this work unpaid, but I really feel that the above could have been handled a lot better. I am proud to be a member of CORSA but being treated like this was not nice after investing well over $10,000 in travel expenses and travelling half way around the world.
 
Anyway I will in time forget this, and in fairness I have received an apology from CORSA but I think Denver will be my last CORSA convention.
 
On a positive note is was great to catch up with everyone and I particularly appreciated Timothy Shortle coming up to me with a hand shake and a welcome to the USA.
