Consider yourself fortunate to have alcohol free gas available.  IL is a 
corn growing state and we've had alcohol in our gas for at least 15 years.

The only other suggestion I can offer (assuming the pump cups were new and 
NOT NOS) - and which you may not want to hear - is improper installation. 
They ARE a little tricky to install properly.

I wish you success in solving the problem.  When you find the solution, 
please be good enough to let us know what the answer turns out to be.

But, I'm a bit confused.  Was it Ron or Greg who had the initial question?
