 Thanks to all for the advice. I know about hot running(reterded) and pinging
(advanced). Usually what I do is select the octane and stick with it. On a hot
day I push the timing till a light rattle at cruise up a hill tells me I'm on
the cusp if real detonation. That said, the timing is pulled back a degree or
two and left there.

 Too many people to thank for the basic same advice.
