<VV> Too Much Oil In Engine?

Oil pressure from the pump actually just gets the oil where it needs to be. The viscosity, clearances and pumping action of the bearing to crank offset are what keep the parts from rubbing. I haven't studied a Corvair crank but small block Chevys only oil the rods for 180 degrees of crank rotation. The other 180 the oil passages are blocked unless you have a cross-drilled crank. Oil pressure is important only in that it keeps oil present where it needs to be and that it provides a limited amount of cooling. Some engines are designed where the oil does a significant amount of cooling. They have jets to spray oil on the bottom of the piston crown.
