<VV> Funky idle question

Is the Petronix getting the full 12V? I had one that was only getting much  
less due to the resistor wire and when the alternator got weak, it was down 
to  about 4V. Needless to say, the car barely ran at idle or any other  
throttle.
 
Also the Pertronix works better with a coil that is for the Pertronix. It  
is also designed to run on the full 12V.
