It is pretty obvious. They needed a couple of cars to make the Camaro and  
the Riviera look good, so they added early model Corvairs. They were afraid 
to  put a late model Corvair in the poster, it would made all the other cars

look  like ugly relics.
 
(This is a joke, folks - laugh and go on!)
