<VV> Buffalo's legacy

While there has been a lot of discussion about the Buffalo convention lately (much of it unfair and undeserved, IMHO), I think you should remember that there were some very significant plusses for that show:

1) First time for 100% on-line registration (thanks, Marissa)
2) Welcome party and Valve Cover Races held on-board a Navy ship (very cool!)
3) Concours covered by Hemming's Classic Car and Automotive Vision TV
4) Exclusive tours of GM's Tonawonda Engine plant (where our beloved power plant was manufactured)
5) CPF meeting/interview/discussion with panel of Tonawanda retirees who'd worked on the Corvair line
6) Inaugural Tony Fiore Chapter Newsletter Award presentation

And last, but certainly not least (in my opinion) --

7) Inaugural Stock Corvair Evaluation (ASCE)

The Corvair world is a much better world because of these events, and I, for one, am exceedingly grateful for the men and women who volunteered their time to make these things happen.

I am especially indebted to Chuck Facklam, Sam and Marissa Andolino, not only for their tireless efforts in putting on this show, but for the support and encouragement they gave me as we were trying to launch the Stock Corvair Group and get the first ASCE on the convention agenda. There would likely not be a Stock Corvair Group today without their support and for that we all owe them a debt of thanks

If you would like to see how Marissa continues to support the SCG, I encourage you to visit the new SCG website http://stock.corvair.org which would not exist without Marissa's programming skills.

Thank you

Bill Hubbell
President, SCG
