<VV> unusual? Filter "failure"? something to watch for

a plugged oil  filter should not take out a motor , bypass  valves take 
care of it , but add extra strain on the pump.you can see evidence  on the 
distributor gear of extra wear.
i checked a clark's filter i removed to change a damper today , and that  
retainer is a slightly different design than the one that moved. so the one 
that  moved MAY be a 1038 NAPA...but not positive. i had a few given to me 
over the  years. the clarks unit has a slight curl to the edge by the inner 
gasket for  better retention , the one that failed was a straight edge.
i will check my stock tomorrow.
a leak due to double gasket that goes unnoticed is a time bomb  that  will 
surely ruin a motor in a hurry , and make a mess.
i would say that this type of fault has to be rare. most  people would 
never spin a corvair filter installing it anyways, just the  bolt.

That is  pretty darn scary in the sense it can take an engine out. I wonder 
if they  have any plans of recalling these filters as I have been hearing 
more of them  failing. I for one have purchased some of these filters and 
actually have them  on my wagon at this time.
