<VV> Oil FIlter leaks

"Me too".

Just last week I installed a "made in Taiwan" filter sold by a US Corvair
parts dealer and had a similar issue. My father taught me long ago to
always check for a double gasket situation before installing a new filter
and I always do without exception (it's habit).

However a few hours later I was at a car cruise and someone pointed out I
was leaking oil. Turned out it was from the filter, I took it off and
discovered the gasket had deformed slightly, I flipped it over and placed it
firmly back in the groove on the filter, carefully installed it and
tightened it a bit more than usual and no more leak, still it shouldn't have
leaked in the first place.

I'm thinking maybe we've got a run of bad (pre-installed) gaskets on our
hands?
