Eric, that's R-134a, not RU134.  Unless you have some western 
refrigerant that does not come up in Google... ggg

Jerry, by generic compressor, do you mean a GM Frigidare or Harrison A-6 
that is sold by someone other than a GM dealer?

Yes, the Corvair compressor turns in the opposite direction, and the oil 
pump only works one way, so I've been told. So it matters.

The Sanden unit oil pump operates with either rotation, so it doesn't 
matter, so I've been told.

The real question is the current compressor installed on the engine an 
A-6 or a Sanden?

Also, with the high price of R-134a, refiling with R-12 is now cost 
effective again. At least as long as ebay still has it for sale. This is 
assuming the system is still R-12.
