Yes, quite a problem with aircraft where the air gets super cold,
however, most carb'd aircraft have a carb heat control, a way to duct
heat off the muffler into the carb to keep the carb temp just above
freezing to prevent carb ice.  I think some thought was made for this
in the Corvair, it is why the design allows for hot air from the lower
tin is redirected up below the gen/alt and Distributer areas back into
the upper air, to warm it a bit. Mark Durham
