Yes, the irony is thick, isn't it? But it's also nothing like bump starting a manual.
Besides, at the end of the Corvair run, I don't think any other car out there had a rear pump in their automatics. The only reason the Corvair kept it was to eliminate engineering costs on a low volume car.
