<VV> WWI and all Veterans who served ~~ 60's "The Corvair Era"

I've heard that men decided to be teachers in the 60's because it got them
deferred from the draft, although I'm sure there are a few male teachers who
might disagree with that ?

It does seem like an interesting coincidence though.

OK, OK, not directly Corvair, but it is the same generation that appreciated
our unique marquee.

Speaking of which (and to preserve Corvair-relatedness), here is a snip from
a recent "Pan Am" (TV Show) that showed a 1963 Spyder Coupe in one scene
(see attached lo-res capture.)

Speaking as one who reported to take my physical the day after I was  
graduated from high school but couldn't pass the exam--I have great respect
for  
those who serve in any branch of the military; During the Vietnam war, those

who  opposed the war appeared to be on the side of the Reds we were 
fighting--and  that's not only the college students who might be expected to
serve, 
but also  many members of the press and media and other people such as 
educators and  "Liberals" in general.  I know; this ought to be on vv-talk
but

Veterans defend us "over" there and some stay home and  support them, ~
without them they wouldn't have the resources needed to  defend everyone
else, including those who can't (but want to to), or even  those who won't
serve.

In 1966-1967, I was in 1st Armor at Fort  Hood, Texas before going to Nam as
an MP, to protect our troops from  themselves ~ keeping them sober enough to
keep themselves and their friends  off drugs (or at least away from drugs 
for
a little while), ~ and alive to  fight another day ~ not a popular job, but
very interesting.

I  remember when veterans were respected for what they do, by everyone,  not
just by some.

Vietnam was probably the first 'war' where this  became an issue, as I
recall.

Some people are just too jaded by what  this country has given them, and 
that
veterans have  protected.
