At one time I used a DCOE 45 Weber on my ‘66 and had the same problems. The local speed shop guy told me the Weber needle and seat would only hold 2 lbs pressure. The answer he gave me was to use a normal pressure regulator set at 4lbs, and between that and the carb use a secondary regulator built by the company “Cagle”. The secondary regulator was set internally at 2 psi and had a pressure diaphragm with a hose that went to my intake manifold. The carb would get it’s needed 2 psi during normal ops, but when it went into boost, the Cagle would go wide open and deliver whatever the primary regulator was set at....in this case, 4 psi.
