<VV> Squealing alternator

I had that symptom on our old GMC Jimmy a few years back, and before I made
it home (was several hours away) the alternator locked up completely.  I
don't know whether it was a bearing or some other interference but I had to
spend the rest of the night napping in the truck until the businesses opened
up in the morning.
