 Agreed, Bob, meaning, don't believe everything you read! And as you said, it seemed EVERYONE was installing Spyder mufflers on their V8 performance cars. No doubt in part due to the 2.5" inlet and outlet...

Ray,
According to all the Chevrolet information it was the carburetor that was  
restrictive and the muffler was an extremely low back pressure design. If 
you  are interested, it might be helpful to go back and read some of the early 
 1970s  car magazines where the Corvair free flowing turbo muffler set off 
a  frenzy in the industry and was copied by many muffler manufacturers. Even 
 today, turbo mufflers are reputed to be low back pressure and free  
flowing.

used to limit the boost and that replacing either or both  with better
flowing unis will increase boost.  So does going to a  higher flow muffler 
on
a stock turbo car increase or decrease boost?   (assume no other mods).
