Stock Corvair Group’s new website (http://stock.corvair.org) is designed to be an interactive website (based on Word Press). We desire the SCG site to be a central clearinghouse for all things having to do with stock Corvairs. Stock Corvair Group welcomes input from any CORSA member interested in Stock Corvairs. We are always interested in your questions or posts about stock Corvairs – please register for our site and once you are logged in you can post your question or research. Here is a link to a You Tube video showing basics on how to post on a Word Press site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZDmggw-Ij8

Please note that in order to prevent spam on the site, we DO require you to register with your name, valid e-mail address, and CORSA ID (we currently have no way to verify your CORSA ID, so you can actually enter anything in this field, but we trust you to be honest). After you have registered, you will be e-mailed a temporary password to allow you to login to the site. Once you have logged in you will be able to see the “member content” and you will be able to submit posts. All new members are initially granted “Contributor” status, which allows you to submit posts and comments for review and approval by the Editors of the site – generally we will do that fairly soon after you submit the post and then your post/comment will appear on the site! SCG members can be granted “Author” status which allows posting without editorial approval.

We also have a forum imbedded in the site – you will find a link to it on the menu bar once you are logged in. The forum allows a free exchange of ideas and forum posts do not require editorial approval. You can upload images on either the main (Wordpress) or forum sites.

We currently link to several other websites that either feature or have interest in some aspect of stock Corvairs and if you have content on a website that features research into any aspect of Stock Corvairs, we will happily add a link to your site on our home page also. Currently we link to the following special sites:

· GM Parts Wiki (parts catalogs online – Ian Harding’s site)

· 60-64 Differences Wiki (Tim Palmer’s site)

· 65-69 GM Fasteners and Suspension Finishes (Gary Baxter’s site)

We are also willing to provide a “home” for your own special research project, or a place to post your newsletters if you do not have a site. Currently, we are posting Wade Lanning’s research and newsletter for Cloth Interiors. If you have a special area of stock research and are looking for a place to publish it, please think of the SCG site.

I note that the Caveman Corvairs (The 1960 Group) currently does not list a website. We would be happy to link to them if they created a site, or to post research information from their group. Other special interest groups also welcome to make use of our site for their stock research questions, articles, etc. Currently we do provide links to the following stock-related SIG sites:

· Corvanatics (FC Corvairs)

· 1969 Group (1969 Corvairs)

· Air Vairs (Air Conditioned Corvairs)

Of course, we also promote general Corvair involvement with links to:

· CORSA

· Virtual Vairs

· Corvair Center

· Corvair Wiki

Finally, there is a “Contacts” link for “SCG Officers” on our main page you can use to send an e-mail message to the site administrators should you have any questions or problems.

Please help to make this website a useful tool by using it!

Thanks!

Bill Hubbell

President, Stock Corvair Group
