Yes, good point, cruising quietly, and relaxing, uninterrupted by shifting
which is almost non-existent even with a 4-speed, but shifting is nice to
have when you need it.

I'm sure you had your share of hill climbs from Palm Springs to Durango, but
I mean up-n-down, hilly-curvy "Corvair Country" roads, where you never take
your hand off the shifter, and you better know heel-toe braking, and your
steering wheel spends most of its time pointing to the outside of the curve!

Not sure how many of those you encountered but in a (loaded ?) Greenbriar or
Rampside, that would be even more fun!

I wouldn't want to scrape those pretty door panels on the pavement though!

Glad your trip was uneventful, if a little boring !  No hills and no
interesting curves to keep the circulation going?  Hills with curves seem
always to throw PGs into the wrong gear, which is my main complaint (besides
being a passenger in my own car ?)
