The engineering answer is it is not a squirrel cage motor. A squirrel cage
motor is a three phase AC induction motor.
But I digress, this DC motor does spin a sqirrel cage blower.
I do not know what is special about this motor comapred to the heater
blower motor, but it is different. Yes, there is a common replacement, I
just don't remember what at this moment. Mine is still working!

I'm repairing a 1966 Monza coupe with GM factory air. Someone has taken out
the original air blower motor, mounted in the trunk, and replaced it with
I-don't-know-what. Is this the same motor as the heater's? Is it a
squirrel cage motor? Would the original motor be impossible to find? Is
there anything else GM that might substitute? Thanks in advance! -J Ernest
