Lon, I would say that is good advice.
 It is not the the property of heat and oil resistance that is a problem, but Viton has poor dynamic recovery.
 (if you made a ball with it it would not bounce well). Good for static seals and diaphragms.

Pete - I have been warning Corvair people for several years now about the
Viton crank seals and I am hearing more and more of failures. We'll keep
watching.
