If you have the bare block with cam and crank in it: At top dead center #1 cyl. the keys in the crank are horizontal facing #1. The key in the cam gear should be downhill 90 degrees away from crank. Then if you rotate the crank one revolution the "dot" (timing mark) on the cam gear should be downhill at the joint in the two block halves. Clark Hartzel
