Smitty, does this car have the resistance wiring circuit like my 62? My 62
died one day and gave me similar fits, ran until it warmed up. One time I
was watching the engine run from cold and I saw a wisp of smoke coming from
the aft left hand wire loop in the engine bay, where the resistance wire
makes a turn and heads back towards the plug at the firewall, the
resistance wire had gone bad and only showed its bad side when it got hot.
I cut out the resistance wire and installed a Pertronix II and 12 volt
coil, ran a yellow wire from where I cut out the resistance wire at the
large plug out to the coil. No problems since.
