Like I said, I don't see anyone carrying a trunkload of spare parts.  Given 
your logic, you'd need about 300 pounds of spares! Does ANYONE here do  
that?..."
 
Besides the normal everyday things (a belt, oil filter, and spare  
Crane/Allison module), when I drive one of my Vairs to the Florida Keys (which  
happens twice/year), I take: a spare starter, alternator (or generator, before I 
 sold the 64 Spyder), a regulator (unless I'm driving the 67 with an 
internal  regulated alternator), a fuel pump (electric or stock), and a spare axle 
with  freshly greased bearing (when I drove the Spyder, and now with the 
Greenbrier).  Doesn't take up that much room, and it is piece of mind.
