Welcome (to the madness) Josh, You need to get a dipstick but that should be easy. Driving a car without a dipstick will make a big mess (don't ask me how I know that). Are you hooked up with a local club yet? Or how about the Corvair Society of America. Both are very worthwhile. As JR pointed out, 4.5 quarts with and oil and filter change unless you have a deep oil pan (very unlikely). Books are also a must have for us Corvair owners. In no particular order, owners manual, shop manual + supplement (1961 manual and the '62-'63 supp.),etc. And this on line group is excellent for info. I know I have gotten lots of help here.

The car I bought runs, but has been sitting up probably 5 or more years. Going to need a lot of tlc. The dipstick is missing and I've been trying to find out how much oil it holds.
