Kaiser/Willys used the Continental 226 CID flathead on Jeeps unil the last
'60's or early '70's, when the converted the flathead engine to a 230 CID
SOHC engine.

Rambler's last L-head six of 196 cubic inches was offered for 1965 in the
American 220 and 330 series. Checker offered the old Continental Red Seal
flathead six in their cars until 1965, but that engine was available with
overhead valves as an option during the Fifties and Sixties. From 1965 on
they substituted Chevy OHV sixes and V8s.
So I think 1965 was the end of the line for production flathead engines in
the United States...Bill Hershkowitz 66 Monza Sport Sedan 110 PG A/C
