BIG suggestion!

Dome lights are HOT all the time!

The switches (door and turning the dimmer switch CCW) ground the "white" 
lead (GM vehicles).

The orange lead should be hot all the time.

This is why dome lights sockets are not grounded when mounted in the car.

Dome and courtesy lamps are wired the same.
