First, make sure the light switch dimmer isn't turned all the way to the stop.

Subject: <VV> courtesy lamp question

I decided to get the courtesy lamps in my '63 ragtop working as they have never worked since i've owned the car. They don't even have bulbs in them. Just the bottom shell of one. After removal, I tested to see if I had power. Yes. Now, here's the problem. The test light never goes out. I removed the door jamb switch and grounded it, played with it, played with the light switch, played with the other door jamb switch, but the light never went out. Ever.

After tracing out the wiring in the shop manual, it looks like the courtesy lamps get their power from the light switch. Does this mean the light switch is defective? Or should I look for something like a pinched ground wire?

Any thought, suggestions, ideas, etc. would be greatly appreci ated.
