After 65 years of driving with points, I always assume 15,000 miles as the 
average life of a set of points.  Why use them?  They are cheap, original 
and really seem to work just as well as an Ignitor.
Why bother with old stuff?  If that's a valid question, then why bother with 
a Corvair!
