the pump cannot push the oil into the oil gallies if the gap is too
great, it just recirculates it, or cannot create a suction pick up the

Just curious – what is the relationship between the gap between the gears
and the bottom of the pump and oil pressure. I’m guessing that if it was ½
inch there would be no pressure but over gaps of a few thousands of an inch
how does the pressure vary with the gap? Put another way – how sensitive is
oil pressure to the gap size?
