John,

Let it go and keep this on FastVair. The Stockers will never get our
perspective any more than we can get theirs. As I've said before, this
is an alternate universe.

After running my 66 as modified for 10 years and enjoying it immensely,
I put it back to stock for some unknown reason and then totally lost
interest in the car. Fortunately I kept it, and it will now go back more
radical that it was before so that I can actually enjoy it again.

I also run a modified Corvette...stock is too boring (before Seth pipes
up, C6 vettes don't count; they come from the factory more modified than
most custom mods).

And no I don't want to just go buy something faster; what's the fun in
that? It isn't really yours unless you've built it.

The only two vehicles I plan to keep stock...73 Lotus Europa JPS#168
(only 200 made and only 20 accounted for...so far) and 58 GMC NAPCO 4wd
pickup...about as rare as the JPS (but no where near as fast). Well, ok
there is another...my wife's 2010 Wrangler Unlimited, but I haven't
gotten around to it yet. Currently swapping engine/trans in her other
Jeep, a 97 Wrangler, and no it's not stock either. I couldn't even keep
my 61 Lakewood stock.

Just a novice...only 40 years and 300Kmiles experience driving
Corvairs...commuting, long distance travel (ranging from -40F to 110F
ambient), trailer towing, and autocross/Solo2.

By the way, I have never dropped a valve seat, but my brother bought his
65 Corsa with a dropped seat so I've seen them. It was stock. He
modified it and never dropped another seat, though he did have a problem
breaking differential parts.

Back to lurking on VV and participating on FastVair...
