Mark - of course I understand what you're saying. I've dealt with
performance people for most of my 38 years in business. That's not the
issue here. The implication (and fastvairs) was made on Virtual Vairs
that the stock Corvair cooling fan was insufficient at keeping a Corvair
cool.

I thought it should be pointed out for the benefit of "regular" Corvair
people that that wasn't exactly true. That's why I asked for more
information.
Right now there's a lot of talk on VV about Corvairs not being reliable
which is a situation that I think has been artificially stoked by a lot
of people repeating old and new bs about the cars.

Now we come to the point where we apparently have to worry about the
cooling fan.

You know as well as I do that any significant improvements in cooling
(re the fan) have been painfully slow on the performance end. But
cooling improvements because of cleaned fins and attention to the
cooling done by the oil (1/3 of all Corvair cooling) as made better
progress.

Yup - if you're racing, cooling is a problem. So is horsepower,
reliability and money.
