Turbo owners who push their cars hard for extended periods do overheat their engines, stock and otherwise. 

Obviously, more open area between the fins, more air pressure, or both will improve cooling. Also, the location of the turbo itself couldn't be worse, having that orange hot turbine housing heating all that cooling air before it even enters the fan! 

There are many turbo owners who wish they had more cooling. The fact mine has more boost and 140 heads just makes an already bad situation already worse.

              Why could you not get your turbo to run cooler?  As regards to the    fan, if there is pressure in the plenum then there is as much    cooling as a fan can push. Other issues involve condition / cleaning    of the fins etc.   The Corvair fan is adequate for ALL cooling    usages - the only question is how to accomplish the same cooling    with less loss of horsepower -an elusive thing.
    
    Since many others run thier turbo Corvairs all the time without    unusual colling problems what were you doing differently?

yes, but why change? The std fan provides more than sufficient air to
cool the engine in normal everyday driving for most of us. If you want
to run a cooler engine, take the bellows and doors off the bottom
shrouds, or better yet, remove the lower shrouds, for summer driving.
