I'm assuming you are putting the '64 4-speed into the '62 auto. I did this years ago converting my '63 auto to a 4-speed. Someone said to leave the '64 diff with the '64. You can't do that since the diff is 4 speed specific. The suspension crossmember isn't a big deal to cut. You only need to remove the lip. I cut the lip off with a torch and welded the top and bottom together. I would transfer the lower control arms and transverse leaf to the '62 also. It's really not hard since all the holes and such are already in the car for the shifter, clutch cable and clutch pedal. I did mine during a vacation from work. It took less than a week. If you have a lift you should be able to do it in a day if you have all the parts. I didn't clean and paint things since it was a daily driver that I had to have ready to go back to work.
I also swapped the manual bell housing to my auto engine. I swapped the speedo but you could save that for later.
I would have a bolted flywheel, double seal snout and seals, clutch disk, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, rear main seal, bell housing gasket, oil pan gasket, trans to diff gasket and maybe a new clutch cable before you start.
I also wouldn't do it without adding a drain plug to the trans and diff. I added the factory style pipe plugs. You'll need a tap and 2 plugs if they aren't already there. The bosses for them should be there. Better still find some plugs with magnets built in.
