<VV> SPARE IN TRUNK early coupe

I am working on placing the spare in the trunk of my 64 coupe with A/C. I  
am only lacking @3/4 inch of clearance to condenser...looks like a bear to 
move  it. I may try changing the tire mount dimensions a little bit..
Anybody do this job?
any troubles after running it a while?
I need the trunk space if we travel with this car.
