<VV> Crank gear issue

The three things I have considered (but don’t know the
feasibility of) are: 1. drilling and tapping the holes larger. I am unsure of
the hardness of the bolts/gear, so is this possible? 2. Is it possible to change
the crank gear with the engine assembled? 3. Complete teardown and start over. I
am certainly open to any other thoughts also. Thanks for your input.

1 It is common for racers to enlarge the holes for HI HP engines.
2 Crank gear takes 20 ton press!

It is possible to find a machine shop with large enough machine to set the complete engine on and lock the crank.
But most likely cost prohibitive.

Cranks can be removed without complete dis-assembly...

Unless you really want to rebuild... I'd pull the crank and find a used one with the same sized journals.. or a reground and use new bearings!
