While I am with everybody on the value of the dash light, I have never 
lost a fan belt that I didn't know about before the light came one.  
Why?  Because every belt that comes off thwacks the carb cross-shaft on 
the way, and I feel it in the gas pedal.

Well, every belt in Corvairs with carb cross-shafts, anyway.  But I 
don't own one of those turbo-whatchamacallits. :-)
