John,

After you've removed the screws start gently rocking (top to bottom) it back off of the door side pinch weld.  A little silicone spray from the top down (unless you've got all new headliner and carpet) will help.  The bottom sometime sticks too because of rust, but mainly you'll be dealing with the pinch weld (which may also be rusty--especially on a convertible).
