I have a quick box/quick arms combo on the'65, I didn't run into a problem with the strength of the box section in that area. I don't recall hearing of people having to reinforce it there, the only time I've seen problems is with rust or damage. Did you remove the box to check the section? If not, I would take the box out and check all the fasteners and the metal and welds in the area under and around the steering box.

Once in a turn things feel ok. I got under car and observed while wife turned wheel and noticed that the box and frame member where attached move noticeably before any motion is transfered to the linkage.I cannot see any cracks or problems with frame. Is this twisting motion normal? Is there a way to stiffen the frame member? Thanks for any help,Jim Cuneo Sonoma County CA
