<VV> Steering woes

Thanks Bryan, I have used your site as a reference many times and find it a great resource.I failed to mention that i am running 205-60-15's on the front at 12psi.The box section has no visible cracks or rust behind the steering unit. I am thinking that using my bmw 328ci as a reference for steering feel maybe getting me into trouble. With the changes to quick steering box, ieco arms (they appear shorter than factory quick arms), wide tires, and outward backspaced wheels there is much more force required than standard to move tires at low speed.Regardless, this movement is unwanted. I either reinforce somehow or, go back to longer arms and see if the movement lessens or stops. Thanks again,Jim

I don't recall hearing of people having to reinforce it there, the only time I've seen problems is with rust or damage. Did you remove the box to check the section? If not, I would take the box out and check all the fasteners and the metal and welds in the area under and around the steering box.

Once in a turn things feel ok. I got under car and observed while wife turned wheel and noticed that the box and frame member where attached move noticeably before any motion is transfered to the linkage.I cannot see any cracks or problems with frame. Is this twisting motion normal? Is there a way to stiffen the frame member? Thanks for any help,Jim Cuneo Sonoma County CA
