Most marine carbs are painted , or powder coated. It may be that they are on the motors when painted. It is A heavy enamel like finish. I painted a few rebuilds for people as they wanted . They seem to hold up ok and look nice , just not stock like anodize would be.They are protected , and wont corrode.. Regards, Tim Colson
