 Yes, it does. And I stick the lower shrouds on during the winter. Still, I leave the dampers off, as well as the whole damper assembly. Well, a cut down version anyway...

In the winter, with the heater on?  It does get cold up there in Delaware doesn't it?:)

By the way, the thermostatic doors just speed up warm up. They are almost always 
wide open after that.
