How about a new competitive event for the Convention? Two complete Corvair
cars, both donated, same basic model. Displayed on solid supports 12"-18"
off the ground, with full access to front and rear suspension. (All fluids
drained) Two chosen team entries (lottery for the two team spots) and each
entry (two people in a team) has a pair of fully charged Impact guns and a
set of sockets and other tools. Probably a floor jack for safety. When the
starting gun goes off, each team attacks their car. The winner is the team
who removes everything that can unbolt from the car the fastest. Every
nut/bolt/screw must be removed from the main body structure, glass (if present)
should not be removed. The parts will piled up to the sides for
re-cycling. Removed parts need not be disassembled! Wires can be cut! The winning
team splits a cash prize. The host club gets the money from the re-cycling!
This would be the new spectator event!

Not really- you can get from $200 to $250 each for scrap, more if you take
the time to separate the aluminium parts. We had a lot full of old
Corvairs here in Pensacola and someone went out and took everything they could
unbolt off of them-left only the shells. Taking the whole car would have been
Grand Theft Auto---- The local Sheriff wouldn't do anything about it
because all they stole was "Junk"
