I guess there is much fun in arguing.
 
Why is all this necessary?  
 
The stock system works well so long as the fan belt is installed properly  
and properly adjusted.
 
The passage in The Basic Corvair describes an electrical system as  
unworkable on a workaday level.
 
I saw an electrical set up once on a car used for racing.  The owner  
assured me that it would never work on a daily driver.  Too much heat  builds up.
