I just got home from VA where I got to spend a little more time at the Vair
Fair than I had hoped for. I was there for three hours or so in the
morning and another two in the evening... While the awards banquet was
going on I got into long conversations with two separate gentleman who saw
the Corvairs from the street and wandered in. After an hour long history
lesson on Corvairs both were very interested in looking to buy Corvairs,
they both took my email address and hopefully some of the local guys down
there will hear from them as well.

One of them grew up in a Mustang family, and has a first generation Mustang
convertible project car in his garage that he has been planning to restore
for a good many years. After stumbling across the Vair Fair and learning a
little bit he told me that he felt like his whole perception of 60's cars
was turned on it's head by an American 60's car with high tech features
like a magnesium fan, IRS, and available turbocharger... he said that the
Mustang suddenly seemed like an archaic and crude machine by comparison and
that he'd pretty much lost all interest in the Mustang during the course of
the conversation and was really pining for a Corvair. That's one of the
most extreme and enthusiastic reactions I've ever gotten from giving a
Corvair history lesson. Thank you by the way to the gentleman who backed
into the parking space in front of us with his beautiful 65 turbo
convertible (blue), which served as the primary example for pointing out
the unique features of the Corvair. I also got to point out to an owner
that his car had a non Corvair alternator pulley which might very well lead
to an overheated alternator, he was happy to find out before having a
problem rather than after!

Thanks to Bryan and the other organizers for a great event!
